Cheryl Dean Ward has been appointed director of Rockland County’s Office for the Aging.

The position pays $126,310 annually and requires the confirmation of the Rockland County Legislature.

Ward succeeds Martha Robles, who served about 18 months. She previously served for seven years as director of events and development with the Venture Foundation. In that role she was responsible for managing fundraising initiatives and events, funding and grant applications, and more.

Ward’s other work experience includes director of events and food service at Henry Kaufman Campgrounds, running her own event planning company, and serving as a consultant for long-term care facilities throughout New York City, Westchester and Rockland counties. She earned two bachelor degrees from St.  Thomas Aquinas College in gerontology, and recreation and leisure.

The Office for the Aging  provides advocacy by and for older residents and their families by helping them obtain information about programs available to them. The programs are designed to maintain maximum independence in the home and provide employment and volunteer activities.

“The Office for the Aging plays a critical role in helping seniors navigate difficulties and successfully age in place," County Executive Day stated. "Cheryl Ward knows our county and our residents extremely well and I am confident that she will guide OFA down the right path."
