Honoring the legacy of Coach Brian Giorgis, Our Lady of Lourdes High School (OLL) dedicated its gymnasium in his name this past weekend.
“Coach Giorgis’ influence at Our Lady of Lourdes High School extends far beyond championships and banners,” said OLL Principal Meghan Vilardo. “He lived our Catholic mission each day, coaching with faith at the center and leading with integrity. Through this dedication, his legacy is now permanently woven into the fabric of our school, standing as a daily reminder that true greatness is achieved through faith, humility, service and love, and ensuring his example continues to inspire for generations to come.”
Giorgis, who is the only scholastic coach to make New York State Final Four appearances in four different sports – basketball, softball, volleyball and baseball – served the OLL community for 25 years. He was inducted into the New York State Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2010 and the New York State Public High School Athletic Association in 2024. During his tenure at OLL, Giorgis served as the head coach of the girls’ basketball program for 19 seasons, securing nine State championships, 19 league championships and a total of 451 wins. Giorgis continued his coaching career at Marist University for 21 years, retiring in 2023.
