Investing in the Future: Mizzentop Day School Announces Campus Improvement and Expansion Project
Mizzentop Day School (Mizzentop), an independent Pre-K through grade eight private school in Pawling, New York, revealed a proposed campus improvement and expansion plan to accommodate enrollment growth and advance academic and programmatic goals. The announcement, which was made before more than 150 attendees at the school’s annual gala in early May, reaffirms the nonprofit school’s commitment to providing a supportive and inspiring learning environment for its students.
The planned revitalized campus will feature modernized classrooms, an upgraded gymnasium, cafetorium and courtyard with outdoor learning spaces – each designed to foster creativity, collaboration and teamwork, while supporting students’ academic and social development. A highlight of this project includes a state-of-the-art Innovation Hub, a first-of-its-kind space for students to nurture and develop passions in artificial intelligence, science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). These capital improvements will ensure Mizzentop stays true to its mission – developing compassionate, resilient and confident learners, while actively preparing them to positively impact the world.
“Our campus expansion is truly an investment for our students, faculty and our future,” said Karin Shultz, head of Mizzentop. “Our students are deserving of the opportunity to thrive, both academically and personally, and these new initiatives help support their growth to become the leaders, creative thinkers and innovators we know they will be.”
The Mizzentop school has been a valued part of the Pawling community since 2002, when it was welcomed into the Norman Vincent Peale Center for Positive Thinking. In 2024, the school purchased the campus from the Peale family, this year’s gala honorees, further solidifying its role as a 21st-century leader of childhood education in the Hudson Valley. This milestone, along with the dedication of the new Herbert H. Redl Learning Center, soon-to-be home to revolutionary learning programs for children with reading differences such as the Orton-Gillingham approach, allows more students in the region to benefit from Mizzentop’s top-tier and inclusive education.
