The Rockland Youth Dance Ensemble will host a Roaring 20s Casino Night on March 26 at the Coupé Theatre Studio located at 430 Market Street in Nanuet. The studio will be transformed into “The 21 Club Jazz Lounge” and will feature Coupé dance instructor Terri Klausner—who starred on Broadway in A Chorus Line, Sophisticated Ladies and as Eva Peron in Evita —along with alumni Megan Guiney, Aveena Sawyer, and Anthony Caputo. Guests will also enjoy gaming tables, a magician, tricky tray with great prizes, food, wine and beer, a wine pull, 50/50 raffle, and more. Attendees are encouraged to don their best flapper fashions to get into the Roaring 20’s spirit!

Rockland Youth Dance Ensemble (RYDE), Coupé Theatre Studio’s nonprofit dance company, was founded in 1983 and offers a forum for dance and theatre students and emerging artists to develop their talents in a fully integrated environment of education and performance. RYDE primarily features young performers, ages 7 through 18, who have accomplished high-quality performance ability through their studies in the performing arts. For nearly three decades, numerous RYDE dancers have qualified to attend Summer Dance Programs with prestigious national companies throughout the United States. Many have also become successful performers in dance, theatre, and related professions. RYDE artists include students and professionals from Broadway, national dance companies and regional theatre. Every year for the past 40 years, the students of RYDE have performed the Nutcracker at Christmas and even produced a movie version in 2020 due to COVID restrictions.

Tickets for the Roaring 20’s fundraising event can be purchased at Coupé Theatre Studio in Nanuet for $200 per couple, cash or check only (cash only the night of the event) or online at rocklandyouthdanceensemble.org. Guests must be 21 or older. Doors open at 5:30. Please note that the the “funny” money used at the gambling tables has no cash value. CDC protocols will be in effect which may include wearing a mask and showing proof of vaccination. Proceeds from the night’s event will help fund the nonprofit dance company’s ongoing activities.

RYDE students perform in the Nutcracker every Christmas.
