PXG and The Breakfast Club Group (BCG) recently hosted a breakfast event focusing on the art of networking and business development for the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors (HGAR). The event was held at PXG at 100 Nardozzi Place in New Rochelle and attendees were invited to try the new PXG Black Ops drivers and compete in the PXG Driver Challenge.

“Golf is a great way to network and make solid business connections and build relationships because of the time you spend with others on the course,” states Risa Hoag, president of GMG Public Relations and a member of the BCG.

Speakers Robert Withers of M1 Capital, Richard Klein of Klein Greco Law, and Michael Murphy with Murphy Brothers Contracting, were introduced by Hoag, all are members of the BCG. PXG Store Manager Jason Tomlinson was on site with his staff to facilitate the PXG driver challenge.

Some of the networking tips included:

  • identify ways to give back through networking groups to generate a sense of community
  • reach out to new people whenever attending an event or even in a casual lunch setting as the next best referral can come from unusual sources
  • look for synergies between you and the other members of a group; they may not be obvious when you first meet
  • organize as many “outside” activities as you can that are philanthropic; bonding during these activities are crucial to maintaining a group's cohesiveness and success
  • develop your own ‘Circle of Influence’ by finding professionals who think like you when it comes to business development, and develop your own “pack,” it’s much easier to hunt for new business contacts at large events when you hunt in packs
  • give first - If you want a “lead”, be a “lead” and always be eager to help someone find new business, they or someone else will help you. Give and you will get!

Mary Prenon, Director of Communication for HGAR, kicked off the event by welcoming the 30+ attendees to the event. More information about HGAR can be found at www.hgar.com.
