This April, Down to Earth Living,1040 Route 45 in Pomona is hosting a series of free, hands-on workshops to help you get your garden and outdoor space ready for the season. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, there's something for everyone—from pruning tips and landscape planning to veggie gardening and even a special visit from the Hudson Valley Humane Society. All workshops begin at 1 PM, and no registration is required—just come by, learn something new, and get inspired! Additional workshops are planned for May and will be announced soon, so stay tuned for more ways to dig into spring.

Saturday, April 5 – Pruning with Mike 

Wondering when or how to prune your plants? Mike’s got you covered. He’ll show you how pruning can help keep your plants healthy, control their size, and make them look their best. You’ll see live demos on trees, shrubs, and flowering plants—so whether you're trimming a backyard maple or shaping your favorite hydrangea, you'll walk away with tips you can actually use.

Planning a new garden or rethinking your outdoor space? Join Stuart for a fun and practical look at landscape design. He’ll talk about how to figure out the right garden size, pick plants that work with your sun/shade setup, and mix colors, shapes, and textures to create a yard that feels just right. You’ll also learn about different materials to help bring your ideas to life.

She’ll share easy tips for watering, fertilizing, weeding, and mulching, so you can grow fresh, tasty food all season long.
