National World Kindness Day
To the editor:
As holiday celebrations begin, spreading compassion cultivates joy and amplifies the festive spirit. This month, we celebrate National World Kindness Day, November 13, making it the perfect time to kickstart the season of giving through a small act of empathy and goodwill.
Paying it forward through a donation of money or time can profoundly affect people’s lives, especially amidst the season’s festivities.
During the most wonderful time of the year, a sudden crisis can disrupt the season’s joy. These financial emergencies can happen to anyone when they least expect them to. Unforeseen medical expenses, car troubles or financial burdens can turn the world upside down. With the help of People for People Fund and its mission of neighbors helping neighbors, we are reminded that the smallest acts of generosity can make this time of year even more merry and bright.
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, People for People Fund offers one-time grants to self-reliant Orange, Sullivan and Ulster County residents who have steady jobs and incomes but face an unexpected financial hardship. These grants allow community members to economically recover and reestablish themselves.
So, spread the spirit of the holidays by extending a hand to those neighbors who may need it most.
