Casa Del Sol Jam Returns to Nyack

It’s Back!

For over a decade, the Casa Jam at Casa del Sol in Nyack (104 Main Street) was home to weekly Thursday night open mics, welcoming musicians of all styles and levels to share their creative spirit playing covers, originals and improv.

Artists such as Grace Vanderwall and Pedro Capo graced the stage, along with other talented Rocklanders. Singers met songwriters and Superbands were formed among attendees in this supportive venue as well. Diners and bar visitors were delighted with a variety of performances and genres as they enjoyed their margaritas a Mexican food.

Sadly, in March, 2020, owner Tommy Lynch made the difficult decision to shut down the open mics in the face of COVID. In the interim, however, Tommy continued to offer free food to the musicians who had become family there. A community had been built around this supportive event space for local musicians, a place where collaboration, passion and friendship collided.

Finally, after a 2-year COVID imposed hiatus, this legendary open jam is set to reopen next Thursday, May 19th, 8:00-11:30!!!

The weekly jams will be hosted by RCC faculty member Rachel Alisa (Southern Stew, Hot Blooded, Hot4Tchr, Dobler, ReVerb, Prozac Kids) and other musicians she's invited to join as co-hosts and house band members, most of whom have performed at and met at previous Casa Jams.

Musicians interested in joining should bring their guitars, drum sticks, harmonicas and vocals. Hosts will provide the PA, amps and drum kit (some of which have been generously donated by other local musicians who want to support and help with the return of this central local hot spot for musicians). Local students are welcome!!!

The Legendary Casa Jam returns Thursday Night May 19 8:00-11:30 pm. Get there early for sign-up!!!
