The Army Golf Team at West Point, boasting a lineage tracing back to 1922, recently had the opportunity to be outfitted with high-performance, custom golf equipment at PXG Westchester. The team, with a rich history and 12 Patriot League Conference Championships to their name, is poised to embrace the upcoming competitions, having triumphed in the inaugural Commander in Chief’s Cup against Air Force and Navy in April 2023.

The team started the season playing in the September Folds of Honor Collegiate Tournament in Grand Haven, Michigan, and secured 7th place out of 17 teams at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate Tournament.

With 11 esteemed Cadet-Athletes, the team is preparing for their next outing at the Army/Navy Star Match in Annapolis on October 5th and 6th, followed by the Bush Cup against Georgia Southern and several other notable competitions concluding the fall season with The Kapolei Invitational in Hawaii.

“This is the first opportunity we’ve had to get our Cadet-Athletes fitted with PXG equipment and we wanted to get the best golf clubs available in their hands as quickly as possible. We extend our gratitude to Justin Shepherd, Jason Tomlinson, Brandon Violette, and the entire PXG team for their unparalleled expertise and professionalism during our recent visit,” stated Coach Chad Bagley.

Cadet John Heckel, Team Captain and the backbone of the West Point team, was the Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 2022 and earned the title of an Academic All-American in 2023. He recently achieved 3rd place in the Ryan T. Lee Memorial, is set for a great year in 2023-2024.

Other notable team members include Cadet Lake Kim, returning after a two-year hiatus due to a back injury, Cadet Zachary Clark, a freshman with strong Army roots, and Cadet Drew Jeffords, winner of the South Carolina Junior Championship.

“The Army Golf Team is eager to carry forward their legacy and the spirit of competition, fortified with unmatched golf equipment and the resilience and dedication inherent in each member. We extend our

thanks to PXG Westchester for their contribution to our journey and look forward to a season of achievement and growth,” stated Coach Bagley.
