In order to celebrate Japanese culture and to introduce children to new cuisines, Cresskill restaurant Jugemu has created a series of fun family events this fall. “We strive to provide an authentic Japanese dining experience for all our guests,” Masa Fukano, founder, noting that the restaurant even has fish delivered daily directly from the famed Tsujiki market in Japan. “These events are designed to introduce a bit of Japanese culture to our guests and their families while incorporating a little fun while dining.” The word Jugemu translates to “limitless life” and represents the limitless possibilities that Japanese dining at the restaurant offers to diners.

· September 11 (Noon)—Nagshi Somen (Floating Noodle) is a classic family-friendly activity where guests can test their chopstick skills to catch the noodle flowing down a bamboo half pipe slide and enjoy it with dipping sauce. Yo-Yo Fishing is another staple activity at summer festivals in Japan where you try to fish out a “yo-yo” (water balloon) using a special “fishing pole” made of a paper string and a hook.

· October 16 (check website for time)—The Moon Viewing Festival is a traditional fall event in Japan and is celebrated by making offerings of dango, a Japanese rice cake in spherical shape to resemble the full moon. Join in the celebration and enjoy tsukimi-dango (Japanese rice cakes) and yakitori (skewered chicken) so you can enjoy both savory and sweet while learning a little bit about the Japanese tradition that gives thanks to the bountiful harvest of the season.

· November 6—Temaki Sushi (Handroll) Party- (check website for time)— is a popular Japanese option as everyone can pick the filling they want for their handroll. The idea is to have fun while enjoying food with friends and family so there’s no wrong way to roll it. Both traditional and non-traditional filling options will be available.

Due to limited availability for these events, it is first come, first served. Reservations are strongly suggested for each of the events below. The cost will vary for each event; check the website for additional details and information http://www.sushijugemu.com.
