43 Artist-Painted Pumpkin Sculptures Take Over Six Hudson Valley Villages — and Every One Is Up for Grabs

Forty-three artist-painted pumpkin sculptures are on display across six Westchester County villages as part of a new regional public art exhibition that will continue through Sunday, November 1.

The 2026 Rivertowns Pumpkin Trail stretches through Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings-on-Hudson, Irvington, Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown. The sculptures can be found along Main Streets, at train stations and outside village halls, forming a free, self-guided outdoor gallery.

The collection includes a glowing Cinderella-style coach, a mosaic commemorating America’s 250th anniversary, a pumpkin overtaken by a kraken and a life-size interpretation of Edvard Munch’s The Scream.

Local artists transformed professionally finished fiberglass pumpkins into original works for the exhibition. Participating artists include high school students, teachers, professional illustrators and designers.

“The Rivertowns share a river, a legend and a love of Halloween. This fall they share a gallery,” said Kristina Schmidt, founder of the Rivertowns Pumpkin Trail. “Every pumpkin on the Trail is a gift from an artist to their neighbors, and the auction lets someone carry that home.”

Several of the sculptures will also appear in the Tarrytown Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 24. The artwork will ride aboard a 24-foot float called the “Steam Punk’in Factory,” created for the event by trail organizers and lead sponsor Harley Falasca. The parade begins at 5 p.m. along Broadway in Tarrytown.

Falasca, of Falasca Home Improvement, also built and donated more than 42 wooden pedestals used to display the sculptures throughout the six villages.

In addition to viewing the artwork, visitors can participate in the Great Rivertowns Pumpkin Hunt, a digital scavenger hunt that challenges participants to locate sculptures, answer questions and complete activities. Family, Challenge and Remote versions are available at pyts.link/p/AZZH.

Each sculpture is also being offered through an online auction that closes November 1 at 9 p.m. Starting bids are $400 for stacked-pumpkin sculptures and $500 for large single pumpkins. Buy-it-now prices range from $2,500 to $3,000, with proceeds supporting future public art programs in the Rivertowns.

The artwork and bidding information are available at galabid.com/pumpkin-auction-26.

Maps, sculpture locations and additional information about the exhibition can be found at rivertownspumpkintrail.com.
