Veterans Day Ceremony in Nyack Rededicates Community Space to Honor Civic Leader Hezekiah Easter
The Village of Nyack proudly announces the rededication of community space to honor Hezekiah Easter, Jr. -- Nyack native, WWII veteran, Rotarian, public servant and champion of civil rights and social justice. The rededicated square is located in the center of the village at the intersection of Cedar and Main Streets.
A ceremony marking the new designation will be held on Veterans Day, November 11 at 9:30am and will include speakers amply representing a cross-section of the Nyack and broader Rockland communities.
The square has been dedicated to veterans since 2005 when the gazebo and surrounding seating areas were donated to the village by a group of local organizations and individuals led by the Nyack Rotary Club. It will now bear Easter's name with the official title "Hezekiah Easter Veterans Memorial Square."
