Westchester County recently hosted the third Entering and Re-entering the Workforce Job Fair at The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College. The event, which was designed to support individuals looking to pivot careers, seeking their first job, retiring from one career and looking to explore another, and/or rejoining the workforce after a hiatus, drew more than 200 attendees.

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said: “The Entering and Re-entering the Workforce Job Fair supports a diverse audience of job seekers, ranging from those looking for their first employment opportunity to retirees looking to try something new. This year’s event drew a large audience of skilled job seekers, many of whom were looking to pivot to a new field following an interruption in their employment status. It was great to see so many Westchester residents turn out for this event, and we are thankful to all of the employers and resource providers who joined us.”

Westchester County Office of Economic Development Director Bridget Gibbons said, “Offering job seekers the opportunity to not only learn about employment opportunities, but also connect with skills training providers who can help them become a stronger candidate and/or prepare for work in a new field, is one of this event’s greatest strengths. We were impressed by the number of job seekers who joined us and the feedback we received from exhibitors about the caliber of talent in the room.”

Westchester County Director of Policy and Programs, Small Business and Chambers of Commerce, Shari Rosen Ascher said, “The Westchester County Office of Economic Development is a bridge between job seekers and employers. We understand that various circumstances take people out of the workforce and motivate them to pivot career paths. Our goal is to connect our local employers with qualified talent, and aspiring job seekers with the training they need to be a company’s next great hire. This event did a great job of connecting all of these audiences, and we look forward to continuing to host impactful job fairs in the future.”

Westchester County Director of Minority and Women-Owned Business Development and Immigrant Affairs Martha Lopez said, “Thanks to our partners at Purchase College, and the many employers and resource providers who joined us, the third Entering and Re-entering the Workforce Job Fair was a tremendous success. We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from job seekers about the number and range of employment opportunities available, and were impressed by the depth of training opportunities offered by our resource providers.”

More than 50 employers and resource providers participated in this event, including: Greater Mental Health of New York, NYS Unified Court System, NYU Langone Health, Open Door Care Network, Prak Productions, Inc. dba NYC Subway Line, Rockland County Government Department of Personnel, Westchester County Departments of Human Resources, Social Services & Probation, and Westchester Library System.
