Guardian Revival’s One Mile Challenge Raises $78,658 to Support Military and First Responders' Mental Health
Guardian Revival, a nonprofit serving military members, veterans and first responders – collectively known as guardians – and their families, has concluded its fifth annual One Mile Challenge
with $78,658 in donations. More than 578 people across 35 states and Washington, D.C. walked, ran, rolled or rucked (walked with weight) one mile a day in September to raise awareness around guardians’ challenges with mental illness and suicide.
“Our guardians carry the weight of trauma, loss, responsibility and so much more,” said Kim Haight, CEO of Guardian Revival. “Too often, that weight goes unseen and unsupported. The One Mile Challenge is our way of showing up for our guardians and helping carry that weight.”
Recognizing that mental health challenges, depression and suicide are disproportionately high for those who serve, Guardian Revival created the One Mile Challenge to support the programs that encourage connection, resilience and healing. These initiatives include Another Summit, which offers outdoor adventure activities such as hiking; Boots & Paws, which provides free companion puppies; and RISE, which delivers wellness workshops, retreats and resources to help guardians recharge.
“The entire Guardian Revival team extends its heartfelt gratitude to those who stepped up and showed up this September,” added Haight.
