Hudson Valley Hospice, the premier private, not-for-profit healthcare agency, in conjunction with contractors Mid Hudson Construction Management (MHCM), announced that it is now accepting patients at the first of its kind inpatient facility in Dutchess and Ulster Counties, as construction is complete and all of the necessary approvals have been received. With (14) 400-square-foot private suites featuring large ensuite bathrooms, individual room temperature control, and convertible chairs and sofas for loved ones to stay comfortably overnight, Hudson Valley Hospice offers patients a residential option that feels like home, where they can live comfortably and pain-free while receiving the specialized end of the care and support that hospice provides.

“Compelled by our mission, we are guided by a vision that continues to build Hudson Valley Hospice’s reputation as the premier provider of hospice and palliative care in both Dutchess and Ulster Counties. As such, we took this important step to add this much-needed component to the constellation of healthcare services we provide to the community,” said Michael S. Kaminski, president and CEO of Hudson Valley Hospice, regarding the new facility.

The construction of Hudson Valley Hospice House, located in Hyde Park, is expected to offer care to over 1,000 patients and their families per year. In addition to its private suites, the facility also features designated common areas, such as spacious dining facilities, family and patient lounges, and gathering rooms with coffee stations, microwaves, and refrigerators for family use. Along with a meditative garden, offering patients and their loved ones the opportunity to enjoy a tranquil outdoor environment, the Hudson Valley Hospice House provides a safe, welcoming, and nurturing facility to the patients of Hudson Valley Hospice and an innovative solution to a previously unanswered community need.

“When our team was tasked with building the first freestanding hospice inpatient facility in Dutchess and Ulster County, we took the project to heart and wanted to create a place where residents and their families could feel at home while receiving the best care possible,” said Ray Travis, president and CEO of MHCM. “As we worked alongside Hudson Valley Hospice, we were proud to be able to offer our community a warm and welcoming center where families could bring their loved ones.”
