Sounds in the Round - A Newly Established Songwriter Round Emerges in Rockland County

Rockland/Bergen County is home to many creative residents, a number of whom can be seen playing your favorite covers of popular music at local venues on any given day. However, singer/songwriters in our area seem to be underrepresented when it comes to performance opportunities for their own, original music.

‘Sounds in the Round’ is a newly established, local songwriters round that was founded by local singer/songwriter Allison Cipris (of Country Fresh band) with the hopes of creating a sense of community and support for local musicians who live far from big music cities like Nashville and Austin, where their craft is celebrated.

“As a singer/songwriter myself with ties to Nashville, I noticed that there really weren’t many opportunities for local songwriters to perform their music in front of a live audience in our area.” says Cipris, “ My hope is that these writers rounds not only allow us to gauge audience reaction to our work but also help to grow our local songwriting community.”

The inaugural ‘Sounds in the Round’ event will take place Monday, June 13th from 7-9pm at Gentle Giant Brewing Company, in Pearl River, NY. Featured songwriters will be local favorites: Alice Leon (The Al’s), Allison Cipris (Country Fresh), Dave Kopec (Franklin Turnpike) and Zeke Carey (Zeke Carey Band); All of who have a list of impressive credentials as both songwriters and performers.
