Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland Names New Executive Director

Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland (CCCSR) is pleased to announce that Stephen Papas will assume the role of Executive Director, succeeding Dan Eudene who will retire on February 6th. Papas brings to the organization a longstanding commitment to community service, proven leadership expertise, and deep roots in the Rockland County community. He will leverage this experience to lead a dedicated team in combating food insecurity, ensuring access to shelter, and supporting new immigrants as they build stable, independent lives in Rockland.

About Stephen Papas
Stephen Papas currently serves as President and CEO of United Way of Rockland County. A native of Rockland, his passion for service was ignited at an early age while feeding the homeless with his church youth group and volunteering in other community outreach efforts. After earning his bachelor’s degree from the University at Buffalo in 2007, Papas began a fulfilling career in the US House of Representatives, the NYS Assembly, then finally the NYS Senate. He later earned a master’s in public administration from Pace University.

Transitioning into the nonprofit sector, he served with the Legal Aid Society of Rockland County and then dedicated six years to Meals on Wheels of Rockland. In his current role with United Way, Papas leads cross-sector efforts bringing together nonprofits, business and government to address pressing needs in Rockland County.

In an average year CCCSR:

  • Provides ​200,000+ meals through the Food Pantry to over 5,500 families, including over 6,800 children
  • ​Distributes 10,000 pounds of locally grown fresh vegetables to Food Pantry participants from the Community Garden of Love located on the property along with donated produce from Stokes Farm
  • ​​Receives support from 40+ dedicated volunteers who help to prepare, bag, and distribute food
  • Prevents over 100 households from losing their shelter
