Blu Pointe - A Review with a View by Bill Hoag

Seafood Tower

All of us in the Hudson Valley look forward to crocus blooms revealing some of the first colorful signs of Spring. Now with the pandemic showings signs of abating we are especially excited to experience dining out as restrictions begin to loosen.

If you really want to experience a restaurant with one of the most spectacular views of our historic Hudson River, I highly recommend Blu Pointe in Newburgh. It is a stunning and expansive restaurant with a panoramic view from every seat in the house.

On my visit there with my wife and daughter this week there were couples at the bar (socially distant), a bridal shower in another section of the restaurant, and the three of us on the Central Terrace with a fully open wall to the fresh air and direct view of the River. All of us enjoying the beautiful vista without any feeling of being crowded.

The menu and wine list at Blue Pointe are extensive. They have won The Wine Spectator Best Of Award For Excellence the past four years, and the cocktails list is also extensive and interesting.

On this trip we opted for the shellfish platter which felt like a perfect way to kick off the warmer weather. Lobster, mussels, clams, oysters, and colossal shrimp were included and were all fresh and displayed beautifully. We look forward to returning with family and friends to enjoy more of the menu and a front row seat to the majesty of our beautiful Hudson river.
