PETALZ Flowers to Create Smiles and Raise Funds for the Alzheimer’s Association

Mrs. Bloom’s Direct recently announced its new PETALZ floral program which will bring flowers nationwide to seniors living in long-term care communities with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Alzheimer’s Association.

Oren Shapiro, President of Mrs. Bloom’s Direct, says the PETALZ program is aimed at enhancing the lives of senior-living residents with beautiful, uplifting flowers, while at the same time, raising funds to support Alzheimer’s research, care, and education. Alzheimer’s affects one in ten Americans age 65 and older. While no one in his family has been impacted by the disease, Shapiro has friends whose families have been devastated by it.

“You not only see the joy in their faces when they receive flowers, but you can physically see their mood improve as well as the mood of the caregivers as a result. Flowers instantly make a positive difference,” says Shapiro, who founded Mrs. Bloom’s Direct in 2003 and often delivers flowers to area nursing homes. “Flowers convey affection, appreciation and caring to those who give and receive them. They renew spirits and brighten the recipients’ day and their environment. Our hope is that the PETALZ program will become a sought-after amenity so that together we can raise significant funds for a larger cause – the fight against Alzheimer’s.”

The PETALZ program is designed specifically for owners and operators of long-term care communities, including nursing homes, assisted living, and memory care. For as little as $10 per week per resident, communities receive a variety of colorful fresh flowers from growers around the world.
