The Nyack Chamber of Commerce will host its 11th annual Classic Car Night this Thursday, July 20. The event will take place in a new location -- the village's Memorial Park on the riverside -- and will run from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. A rain date is reserved for Thursday, July 27.
Admission is free.
The park will be packed with impeccably maintained “oldies,” rare antiques, custom builds, muscle cars and hotrods. Car enthusiasts will be thrilled to get close-up views of some of the most revered icons of automotive history. What's more, the park is a great spot for family fun and relaxation, with a playground, basketball court and picnic tables.
DJ Don will provide the musical backdrop, spinning classic favorites from the '60s onward. Noted local caricaturist Dan Springer will add to the fun with impromptu portraits. And when the sun begins to fade, cool car scenes from Hollywood's best films will be shown on the park's 'big screen.'
Visitors can make a day of it -- taking a stroll around the village, exploring Nyack’s unique shops, and enjoying great refreshments and food offered by Nyack’s fabulous pubs and restaurants. The festivities will continue into the evening with live entertainment in Nyack's vibrant night spots.
"This community-centered event promises to once again attract a strong contingent of car enthusiasts of all ages and persuasions -- people who take pride in owning and maintaining special vehicles, as well as people who appreciate them," said Roger Cohen, President, Nyack Chamber of Commerce.
"Memorial Park is the perfect setting," added Mark Mangan, Event Manager. "The park offers beautiful vistas of the river and great ways to spend a memorable summer day and evening in our beautiful Hudson Valley village."
Classic Car Night piggybacks on another community initiative spearheaded by the Chamber -- Nyack's Thursday Farmers Market -- which runs earlier in the day (8:00 am to 2:00 pm) in the Main Street municipal parking lot.
Special thanks to Classic Car Night sponsors: Palisades Auto Sales, Rockland Rodders Association, Hi Tech Auto Spa, Visit Nyack and the Village of Nyack.
