Rockland County Executive Ed Day and Department of Social Services (DSS) Commissioner Joan Silvestri are asking residents to help spread holiday cheer to all of Rockland County’s foster children and children served by DSS, by donating new, unwrapped toys, gift cards, and clothing for the 6th Annual Toy and Clothing Drive which began Friday, November 25th.
The drive takes place each year to ensure that every child in Rockland County has a gift to open for the holidays. Toys and gifts are requested for children ages newborn to age 18 through Tuesday, December 20th.
“It’s been an incredibly challenging year for families coping with record-breaking inflation and skyrocketing gas prices and I am asking those who can please consider donating to our 6th Annual Toy and Clothing Drive and help us help children who need some warmth and a smile this holiday season,” said County Executive Day. “We thank every one of you for your generosity and support.”
Commissioner Joan Silvestri of the Department of Social Services said, “For our kids in foster care and those currently receiving our services this difficult time of the year can be challenging to say the least and your donation of a toy or clothing can make all the difference in improving the lives of those children.”
You can drop off toys, gift cards, or clothing to our collection boxes during normal business hours until December 20th. You can also drop off your donation in-person on Saturday December 17th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
