Join Keep Rockland Beautiful This Fall to Protect Local Waterways

Keep Rockland Beautiful (KRB) invites the community to take part in Clean Sweep for Clean Streams, a countywide cleanup campaign running from September through November. Together, volunteers will help protect Rockland’s waterways and create a brighter, cleaner future for all.

Every piece of litter collected makes Rockland a healthier, safer, and more beautiful place to live. This fall, KRB is focusing cleanup efforts on waterways and surrounding areas to:

  • Prevent flooding
  • Protect wildlife habitats
  • Improve water quality in local streams and rivers

Since storm drains in Rockland lead directly to water sources, the impact of these cleanups is both immediate and long-lasting.

With an extended cleanup season and more volunteers than ever, community support is vital. Whether through sponsorship, volunteering, or participation in one of KRB’s programs, every contribution makes a difference.

Get Involved:

  • Register for a community cleanup event at www.keeprocklandbeautiful.org
  • Explore programs such as Adopt-A-Road and the Clean Communities Partnership
  • Support environmental education and stewardship as a campaign sponsor

Clean Sweep for Clean Streams is more than a cleanup—it’s a movement to protect Rockland’s environment and ensure a healthier future for generations to come,” said Marisa Marrone, Executive Director of Keep Rockland Beautiful

Honoring a Legacy: The Irfan Sabir Scholarship Fund

This year, KRB also announced the creation of the Irfan Sabir Scholarship Fund, honoring the memory of former board member Irfan Sabir. His dedication left a lasting impact on both the organization and the community. The fund will support students pursuing environmental science and related fields, ensuring Irfan’s passion for stewardship continues to inspire future generations.

Community members wishing to contribute may do so through KRB’s donation page by selecting “Irfan Sabir Scholarship Fund.”

Exciting New Initiatives for 2025
In addition to the fall cleanup campaign, KRB is launching and expanding several programs to make it easier than ever for Rockland residents to get involved:

  • Eco-Ambassador Program – Engaging middle and high school students in leadership and volunteer opportunities.
  • Clean Communities Partnership Program – Supplying libraries and community centers with cleanup kits and volunteer connections.
  • Sustainable Living Hub Expansion – Offering even more free resources on sustainability and conservation.
  • Environmental Education Lessons – Downloadable, interactive lessons for educators, homeschoolers, and families.
