The stage lights may be dimmed, but the energy and emotion of “Musicians United for ALS: A Concert for Wayne” continue to resonate after a nearly sold-out crowd gathered at The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College on April 15 for an unforgettable evening of music, unity, and purpose.
The event, organized to honor legendary music producer and engineer Wayne Warnecke, brought together an extraordinary lineup of world-renowned musicians and vocalists who delivered breathtaking performances and moving tributes to Wayne throughout the night. The funds raised will benefit ALS United Greater New York, and donations in Wayne's honor are still being accepted at www.als-ny.org .
Among the performers were Patty Smyth (Scandal), Paul Shaffer (Late Show with David Letterman), Rob Thomas (Matchbox Twenty), Lisa Fischer, Bob James, D-Train, the ED Palermo Big Band, Vaneese Thomas and her sister Carla Thomas, Bernie Williams, Gil Paris, Average White Band, The Bacon Brothers, and many more, all led by the incomparable Rob Mathes as musical director. The event Emcee was actor Vincent Pastore of The Sopranos, and the house band included an all-star roster of industry icons.
The evening’s most powerful moments came during heartfelt tributes to Wayne Warnecke, whose decades-long influence in the music industry and unwavering positivity in the face of ALS have made him a beloved figure among artists and fans alike.
