The Fostering Philanthropy Fund, a component fund of the Rockland Community Foundation, will hold the 24th annual Rockland Philanthropy Day event on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza, Suffern, NY. Program highlights will include a keynote presentation by Bob Murray, Provost of St. Thomas Aquinas College and the deliverance of a proclamation by County Executive Ed Day that November 7th, 2024, is designated as Philanthropy Day in Rockland County.

Philanthropy Day 2024 is brought to you in partnership with the Rockland Community Foundation Advisory Board , The Fostering Philanthropy Fund and past board members of the Rockland Development Council. The Philanthropy Day Breakfast is an opportunity to celebrate a commitment to enhance the quality of life and giving in Rockland, and to honor the individuals and businesses who make this possible.

The event will recognize the following with 2024 Philanthropy Day Awards:

  • Outstanding Philanthropist - Rena Finkelstein
  • Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy - Devyn Pupo
  • Outstanding Nonprofit or Fundraising Professional - Esther Schulman
  • Outstanding Volunteer - Howard Goldin and Edward Frank
  • Outstanding Corporate Leadership - Veolia

The following monetary awards will be distributed to/on behalf of this year’s winners: $500 to the Youth in Philanthropy awardee towards their education or philanthropic goals, and $500 to be donated to a Rockland nonprofit of the awardee’s choice for all of the other categories (Philanthropist, Nonprofit or Fundraising Professional, Volunteer, and Corporate Leadership). For donations to Rockland nonprofits there will be one donation of $500 for each category. In addition, at the Philanthropy Day event, the Fostering Philanthropy Fund will be presenting the Rockland County Veterans Service Agency with a grant of $2,500 for food support for Rockland County Veterans.

The Fostering Philanthropy FundThe mission of the Fostering Philanthropy Fund is to continue the important work that the Rockland Development Council (RDC) has accomplished in Rockland County since 1999. The fund, stewarded by The Rockland Community Foundation, perpetuates RDC’s signature Philanthropy Day event, providing an opportunity to honor philanthropic community members and organizations as well as to provide an impactful message on the power of philanthropy. The fund may also be used for other activities which will educate, support and inspire individuals in the field of fundraising, encourage community collaboration, and promote philanthropy.
