Untold Stories, curated by Mary Ting for the Emerson Gallery, brings together fragmented memories, dreams, whispers, whimpers, trauma, historical and contemporary chaos which are woven together, dissected, and reassembled in the works of Tara Sabharwal, Mary Ting and Yeon Ji Yoo. Time is at once present, past, future and the site is here, there, elsewhere and nowhere. These works are much more than collages, drawings, paintings, prints, books, sculpture, and photographs - they are evocations of loss; desperations; relics, shrines; and reckonings. Likewise, they are also rebirths; devotions; divinations, odes to nature, wonder, life; and newly revised contemporary translations of old stories. These Untold Stories are the artists’ pilgrimage into the hauntings of war, immigration, politics, gender issues and ecological collapse.
