This leadership forum will provide an informative update on the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) and its implications for our region, and help develop a framework for stakeholders in Rockland County to identify areas of economic opportunity that can be captured by implementing climate solutions at scale.

WHY: New York has passed an ambitious and necessary law, the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. Designed to decarbonize the economy almost 100% over the next twenty years, the law is predicted to generate a net increase of around 189,000 jobs in renewable energy, clean transportation, building upgrades and materials innovations, energy efficiency, and more. How can our Counties take full advantage of this momentum by attracting and nurturing businesses that are part of the solution? And how can we be sure that everyone benefits by helping businesses in shrinking industries (like pumping gas and delivering fuel oil) to find new and better opportunities? The Climate Law calls for investing 35 – 40% of clean energy funding into communities identified as “disadvantaged” – how can we empower our communities through access to these benefits?

WHAT: This leadership forum will provide an informative update on the CLCPA and its implications for our region, and help develop a framework for stakeholders in Rockland County to identify areas of economic opportunity that can be captured by implementing climate solutions at scale.

AUDIENCE: Elected officials and staff, local businesses, other stakeholders, workforce representatives.
